Tarn Bregman

Tarn Bregman (he/him) is a fourth-year environmental studies major who has also worked as a reporter and photographer for The Planet magazine. In his free time, Tarn can be found on Galbraith Mountain riding his mountain bike or hanging out at Bellingham skatepark. Tarn hopes to bring The Front’s coverage to niche sports and recreational activities locally and across the county.


Fish food, beer: The Iron Fly Showdown

Anglers and fly fish enthusiasts gathered at Goods Local Brews to create the most attention-grabbing fly for fish to bite in Bellingham, Wash. on Feb. 16. The Iron Fly Showdown brought anglers from all over Whatcom County for the first fly-tying event hosted by North Sound Trout Unlimited. 


A party on wheels, you’re invited

Illuminated by LED lights and dressed in costumes, a mass of cyclists can be seen parading through the streets of downtown Bellingham on the first Thursday of every month. The occasion? Bellingham Bike Night, a community event aimed at celebrating the fun of being on two wheels.

Get in on the pinball action

Players stand perched over pinball machines, laser-focused; money is on the line, and they’re here to win.  Multiball Monday, a monthly pinball tournament open to all over the age of 21, is held on the last Monday of every month at the 1-Up Lounge in Fairhaven.

No snow? No problem.

Hoots, hollers, “oohs” and “ahs” filled the courtyard of Time and Materials Taphouse Saturday, Jan. 14, as skiers and snowboarders hit jumps, rails and even threw themselves off the awnings of the building. The eighth annual Box Jam, hosted by Boardworks Tech Shop, brought a miniature terrain park to downtown Bellingham. At 44 degrees Fahrenheit with a clear sky, snow was not on the forecast, but skiers and snowboarders in full gear could be seen walking down State Street.
