On Saturday, June 4, students flocked to Western Washington University's south campus to enjoy an evening filled with live music, food trucks, tie-dying and a 30 ft slide.
The sprinkled pink donut sticker in the window of JoJoe’s Doughnuts caught an artist's eye as she drove on Commercial Street in downtown Bellingham. It was shortly after the business opened its doors in December 2021 and third-year Western student, Emma Deubler, was on the hunt to have her ceramic creations on display inside of a local establishment.
It began with an email pitch, a plastic folding table, a small controller and a 2008 Macbook during Western Washington University’s 2017 Lawnstock.
As the end of the school year approaches, students in the Honors College are working to complete their capstone projects.
The COVID-19 outbreak left members of Western’s racing team with a surplus of downtime; however, this allowed the team to create something new. The team decided to use their extra time as a turning point to design and manufacture Western’s first physical electric formula-style race car.
Employing a heavy blend of pop and trap, YT Suns emerged as a music duo beginning in early high school. Western Washington University fourth-year, Reef Hill, and Gonzaga fourth-year, Jack Thorsland were raised in Renton and each held the title of lead drummer at opposing middle schools.
