Western cross country competed in challenging conditions at the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The women's team placed 20th overall in a field of 34 teams, led by sophomore Jane Barr and junior Sophia Galvez who finished side by side for 65th and 66th place. The men's team placed 26th overall, led by sophomore Eric Hamel who placed 58th out of 261 total runners.
He was raised on the mountain, by the mountain, learning to use its natural contours to soar through the air, navigating between tight trees and over massive cliffs, and documenting it the whole way through.

Over the long weekend, Western's ranks thinned out as many college students traveled home for the holidays, leaving behind a small portion of students who either chose not to or couldn’t make the trip.

The record books show a perfect weekend for Western basketball. Not allowing the turkey coma to slow them down, both the men’s and women’s team went 2-0 at Sam Carver Gymnasium.

Head Coach Diane Flick-Williams said that at the beginning of the women’s volleyball season she circled the NCAA West Regional Division II Championship Tournament on her calendar. Then, after going 0-3 to start the season, she buried that calendar and never looked at it again.
