  • Why did you choose Western?

“I was looking at WUE scholarships, I applied to both Colorado State and Western which were both on the scholarship. I came up here and visited and honestly I fell in love with the school and all the people to honestly. When I was on the tour everyone kept coming up and telling me I should go here and it just felt like a really nice atmosphere.”

  • What is your favorite thing about Western?

“I think my favorite thing about Western is the fact that we’re a mid sized school, but we follow none of the norms of a medium sized school. My hometown university has 2000 more undergrads; 60% greek life and they’re not involved in environmental issues and I’ve been so much more involved here, and I’m learning a lot of new things here that I wouldn’t have been exposed to in my hometown.”

  • What has been your favorite class so far?

“My Fairhaven law class, the American legal system, law diversity and social justice. It was probably the most challenging class I’ve taken here but it has taught me a lot about what I could do and couldn’t handle. I learned how to manage my classes better, even though I took it as a freshman and kinda screwed up my spring quarter GPA. It made me a stronger student.”

  • What do you like to do around Bellingham?

“I like exploring cute new places with my friends, I’ve only been sailing twice but both times were equally terrifying and equally fun. I really like going on hikes, Oyster Dome is beautiful and honestly I’ve done the Oyster Dome (hike) five times this year.”

  • What is your best piece of advice to students?

“For out of state students I would definitely give them the advice of going to orientation because I was too cheap to buy a plane ticket to go to orientation, but honestly I know so many other out of state students who met such good friends at orientation and through other programs like WOOT. Honestly, get close with people in your freshman dorm, because they’re the best friends that I have.”

  • As a college student, how do you typically procrastinate?

“I take a lot of Buzzfeed quizzes. Also I just got into blogging, so that’s a time suck. I’m also reading some good books right now.”

  • What TV character do you relate to the most and why?

“Jess from New Girl, because I sing how I feel. Also because she has a best friend that’s a model and I feel like a potato next to most of my friends so she accurately describes my life. Except she pulls off bangs and I never could.”

  • How do you de-stress?

“If I have a lot of reading to do, I put M&Ms on paragraphs because it calms me down, because chocolate. Honestly I would say if it’s nice outside get outside, because it’s the best way to clear my head by going on a really long walk, or having a jam-sesh in my room with a lot of music.”
