Whether Ruben Gomez is rocking a house show with his band or making crowds laugh with his teammates in the Dead Parrots Society, he is taking Western by storm.
The Sin and Gin Tour focuses on the brothel and saloon history of Bellingham, while the Gore and Lore Tour focuses on murder mysteries, ghost legends and the history of transient populations in Bellingham.
Guests enter through the glass door only to be whisked away to another country. The walls, painted a deep, red hue, are adorned with paintings and Spanish memorabilia. Noses wander along with the delectable aroma in the air from foreign dishes some may find unfamiliar.
Every Friday night, a group of students meet in the Fairhaven Complex lounge to cut loose, socialize and express themselves through an eclectic style of dance. This is Fairhaven Fusion.
Rolling up the passes of Tahoe, California as eighth graders, senior Jackson Lundgren and junior Tyler Daniels sat in the backseat of the Lundgren family van. The sun was beating down on them as sweat dripped from their foreheads. The van was overheating and, to make matters worse, there was only one solution to try to cool the engine: blast the heat in the van, on a 90-degree day traveling to the Black Rock Desert.
“Women are often pitted against each other,” Steferos said. “They are told that they can’t reach those high positions and can’t get those jobs, so I think it’s really great to create this community where we can support each other and help each other get where we want to be.”

Every holiday season, hundreds of members of Bellingham’s homeless community lineup outside Little Cheerful, a restaurant off of East Holly Street. Rain or shine, those waiting will be served a warm restaurant-style meal.

Today’s society has made it difficult for teenage girls to have high self-esteem. According to the Girls’ Attitude Survey of 2013, 51 percent of girls between the ages of 16 and 18 have low self-esteem stemming from negative body image.
