Mateo Messina is best known for his work composing the soundtrack of the movie “Juno.” For his composition, Messina won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media in 2009. On top of that, his work has been featured in Oscar-winning movies and independent films.

The walls are lined with documentary posters, band promotions and photographs of smiling musicians where “Binary Bob” Ridgley points out celebrity connections and local legends. From a synth band to the studio, Ridgley has been a musician his entire life. In 1989, he brought Binary Recording Studio to Bellingham, where its audio and film production have been a driving force behind the creative community.

Kevin McDermott has been a member of Western Washington University’s track and field and cross country team since 2020. This track season, McDermott has had a record breaking year. He finished with a trifecta – three gold medals – at the GNAC Division II Tournament, claiming the 3000m, 5000m and mile. McDermott is just the third man to complete a trifecta in GNAC history.

Generations of Pride is a monthly dinner that aims to connect generations of LGBTQ+ individuals in Bellingham. Generations of Pride is hosted by LGBTQ+ Western, PFLAG and Bellingham Queer Collective. The event carries the goal of sharing experiences and wisdom across all generations of LGBTQ+ people.

On March 1 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention dropped the five-day COVID-19 isolation guidelines. Now when people test positive for COVID-19 they can resume everyday activities without isolating if their symptoms are improving and they are fever-free for at least 24 hours, according to new CDC guidelines.

Growing up in Colorado, I started skiing when I was 2 years old. When I began looking at colleges to attend, I knew wherever I went had to have good skiing.
