By Zach Slagle   The conditions were ideal Saturday for the Vikings to cap an undefeated season on senior day and seize their sixth straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season title. The Concordia Cavaliers spoiled the party though with its 2-0 win at Robert S. Harrington field. The Cavaliers entered the game with a 10-game win streak. With the regular-season title and the first seed in the upcoming GNAC playoffs in the balance, Western failed to connect on seven shots in the first period. Concordia’s midfielder Gabrielle Ewing netted the game’s first goal by curving her free kick around the Viking defense and senior goalie Ashley Homer. In an effort to come back in the second half Western managed 16 more shots but was unable to connect on any of them. Concordia’s goalie Anna Miller finished the game with eight saves. The Cavalier’s offense was fortunate enough to find the back of the net in two of the team’s total three shots for the game. Sydney Van Steenberge scored the game’s final goal in the 81st minute propelling the Cavaliers over the Vikings. Despite the loss, Western will look to conquer its third straight GNAC championship during the conference tournament November 2-4 in Portland, Oregon.
