Enjoy a Movie at the Pickford Film Center Downtown

The Pickford Film Center is celebrated for being the best source of indie entertainment in town. Enjoy independent or foreign cinematic jewels that don’t play in regular theaters while sipping a glass of wine or a pint of local beer. On Valentine’s Day, the movie “Green Book shows at 2:10 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.. “Green Book tells the true story of Dr. Don Shirley, a world-famous black jazz pianist in the 1960’s, and his gruff bodyguard Tony Lip, as they travel through the deep south. The dramedy boasts a star-studded cast and an acclaimed director. If this doesn’t interest you, check out the other films that

play on Valentine’s Day.

Breathe Deep with Free Yoga on Valentine’s Day

If seeing all the happy couples around campus is bringing you down, relax with a free yoga session on campus from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. The free yoga is held in VU 464 and is open to students of all levels. The tri-weekly yoga sessions are led by students and provide you with an hour of peaceful stretching and mindfulness.

Attend the Valentine's Maker's Pop-Up Event at Aslan

If you’re 21+, bring your crafitiest friends to the Aslan Depot on Valentine’s Day for their pop-up event, hosted by Aslan Brewing Company. The event includes a food truck at 2 p.m., 10 artisan vendors and live music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Participants can indulge in fresh beer and release some pent-up creativity at this packed event.

Gather the Courage to Get a Love/Hate Tattoo at Kalamalka INK Tattoo

If the idea of permanently inking your body doesn’t scare you away, bring your bestie and attend Kalamalka IN’s $41 Love/Hate themed tattoos/piercings event on Friday, Feb. 15. The tattoo shop is offering flash art ideas for the tattoos and will begin tattooing at 10 a.m. until 5:59 p.m.. The event is first come, first served, so you can expect a line, but depending on the designs, it may be worth the wait.

Partake in the Valentine’s Day Showcase and Free Skate

If you’re like me, you have watched Olympic figure skaters with envy, admiring their graceful swoops and swirls on the ice. This Saturday, Feb. 16, is your chance to try your hand at the art of ice skating at the Bellingham Sportsplex with a free event beginning at 7:45 p.m.. Rent skates for $5 with your student ID and bring a couple of friends. First, the Western Figure Skating team will perform, then the ice rink will open up to the public.
