This post has been updated March 8 to include additional details from the University Police log. On Monday, March 5 at about 1:30 p.m. a husky white male, approximately 6 feet tall, was reported to be in the second floor women's bathroom in the Environment Studies building, according to a Western Alert sent out at 3:13 p.m. The suspect was wearing blue jeans with dark tennis shoes, a dark jacket, white t-shirt and black beanie, according to the alert. He was also carrying a Pepsi product fountain drink, grey laptop and had on a dark backpack, according to the alert. The University Police log reported the incident as a "male subject looking through the stall at women using the restroom." When asked why these details were not included in the Western Alert, Director of Communications and Marketing Paul Cocke said additional information may not be available at the time Western Alerts are sent out. "Western Alerts, by their nature, are sent out as soon as possible after an incident. Often, when sending Alerts, details of the incident are incomplete and still need additional investigation. Later police reports may reflect more details or information," Cocke said. The Western Alert was sent around two hours after the incident was logged by University Police, March 5. The suspect was last seen exiting the ground floor of Environmental Studies, according to the Western Alert. Western Alerts are written by Western’s Office of Communications in coordination with University Police.
