One Viewer’s Reaction: Besides making your stomach grumble this documentary inspires the viewer to look at the world differently through food and one’s own existence. Each episode focuses on one Chef’s story from a different part of the world. They each discuss their hardships and their eureka moments supplemented by stunning images of the dishes they create. Even if cooking isn’t your strong suit or you tend to avoid the Food Network, this documentary offers commentary on living that goes beyond a show about food. Each chef explores a different path. Chef Massimo Bottura explores the romance between old and new traditions of Italy. Chef Dan Barber explores how being a farmer and chef can change the course of food. Each episode is an artfully crafted lesson that offers pieces of wisdom that the viewer can take with them beyond just appreciating the food. The time-lapses, landscape shots of the scenery, and close-ups of the food are gorgeous and accompanied by an equally thoughtful composition of music that creates a documentary that shouldn’t be missed. Score Out of Five Stars: ★★★★★
