Woman murdered in Fairhaven, police arrest suspect

Updated at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, March 5: A 29-year-old man was arrested today in connection with the murder of his mother in Fairhaven, according to the Bellingham Police Department.
The victim was pronounced dead at about 2:40 p.m. due to stab wounds, police said.
Police said the stabbing was not a random incident, but there is no threat to the public, Lt. Danielle Beckley said in an email.
There was a sexual motivation behind the crime, police said.
The suspect is Sheaen Smith. The victim was 57-year-old Aurora Smith, according to police.
