By Ricky Rath The groundhog has spoken this week and don’t pack those coats away just yet because we have six more weeks of winter left. This week’s playlist is all about those long walks from campus in 30 degree weather with a mix of R&B, electronic, and hip-hop.   1. Come Through And Chill - Miguel feat. J. Cole Is it too early to start thinking about summer? Well this Miguel track is unbelievably smooth and he has never failed on delivering great vocals. The production hits you with a romantic and dreamy beat right from the start that will leave you in love with the song.   2. COOL - Ookay Ookay teased and previewed this song ever since summer 2017 and it’s finally here. His first single since “Thief” features an experimental and retro sound accompanied by filtered vocals and a happy melody. So happy that if you play this song when you start your day I can almost guarantee your mood will go up.   3. Weekend - Mocki (Jai Wolf Remix) How could anyone forget this track remixed by Jai Wolf? Three years later, this is still a track that can be included in any 2018 playlist. The soothing vocals and catchy lyrics combined with Jai Wolf’s melodic future bass drop makes this song one you can listen to anytime. Also great for those late night walks from studying in Academic West.   4. Crew (Remix) - Goldlink featuring Gucci Mane, Brent Faiyaz & Shy Glizzy If you haven’t heard of this song yet I will need you to click on that link right now. This song has an amazingly catchy hook, it’s literally liquid gold. Aside from the hook, the beat gives the track a 90s R&B feel that will leave you bouncing and swaying left to right in your heavy winter jacket. It’s that good.   5. Get You - Daniel Caesar featuring Kali Uchis Since it’s quite chilly outside, this is one of those songs you can cuddle up to your boo, vibe and sing along to. Daniel Caesar's vocals will make you melt. This song makes you feel like you’re on heaven and you just met the love of your life. You could leave this track on repeat and you’d never get tired of it.   6. Neon Lights - Chace This 18-year-old producer from China is incredibly talent and this song solidifies it. “Neon Lights” features Chace’s real vocals for the first time. The song’s production features a groovy dance and pop beat that is reminiscent of some of the work done by Daft Punk. I’m still shook an 18-year-old produced, sang, and wrote this song.   7. Icon - Jaden Smith This is the karate kid from the movie in 2010? Without looking at the artist, you would have never guessed this was Jaden Smith rapping. Jaden Smith seamlessly flows through the aggressive beat that will keep your head bobbing. With winter quarter midterms around the corner, I like to throw on this song to pump myself up for those dreadful exams.   8. Scared To Be Lonely - Martin Garrix featuring Dua Lipa (Medasin Remix) This song just gives me that winter feel - that cold walk through the snow as in falls in slow motion, or maybe I just watch too many music videos. This is an amazing remix featuring beautiful vocals from Dua Lipa that will give you chills and the feels throughout the song. Medasin does a gorgeous job at flipping the drop adding ambient melodies and beautiful synths. I’m getting chills from listening to it right now and it's not even that cold outside.   9. Deja Vu - Post Malone featuring Justin Bieber I remember listening to this song all winter long last year and I still have it in my playlist today. This song makes you want to stay in and drink hot chocolate on those rainy days. The production and slow smooth beat is what makes the song so dreamy. So dreamy that it fits the title of the song, “Deja Vu.”   10. Crawl Outta Love - Illenium featuring Annika Wells I’m not crying, you’re crying. “Crawl Outta Love,” has to be one of Illenium’s most powerful productions. The emotional vocals and piano will give you goosebumps as drums build up to the drop. The song’s future bass drop hits you hard with vocal chops from Annika Wells. This song is literally a rollercoaster. The music video also just released last week!   Every Friday, a Western Front reporter will make you a playlist of songs they think you should check out.
