Another phishing scam email to avoid

Academic Technology and User Services (ATUS) has confirmed that an another phishing spam email has been sent out using a compromised Western student's account. It is advising recipients to delete the email, which says recipients have an online PDF document to view. ATUS has resources to help students and faculty avoid fraudulent emails. The Western Front reported on phishing emails were sent from student accounts earlier this month. In that instance, the link in the email took recipients to a page requiring their Western universal login, which would compromise their account and enable spam to be sent from their student email. Western’s email system can detect spam messages, and will block a phishing account from sending further messages. However, sometimes it is too late and the account has already been able to send hundreds of messages, ATUS help desk manager Sean Stockburger told the Front earlier this month.
