Get to Know Western: Kai Griffin

Kai Griffin-3 With each entry of Get to Know Western, The Western Front will interview students and staff for a new insight on campus life. This week, we interviewed sophomore Kai Griffin, 19, a supply chain management major from Blaine, Wash. Q: Why did you pick Western? A: Mainly because it’s local.   Q: What is your favorite thing about Western? A: Everyone seems pretty friendly and laid back while maintaining the school community.   Q: What has been your favorite class so far? A: Liberal studies 121, which is about the ancient world. We learn about how different societies around the world came into being, a bit of the Bible, some about Greek and Mesopotamian.     Q: What do you like to do around Bellingham? A: I skateboard quite a bit.   Q: What is your best piece of advice for students? A: Be open to any opportunities that come your way. You may have a direct path, but you don’t know where you are going to be in 10 years.     Q: Where is your favorite place on campus? A: Probably Red Square because it’s a pretty open place. I remember last year — I think spring quarter — I would have a half hour between classes and just go there and sit. I would people-watch, enjoy the sun and just see what was happening on campus, because there is always something random happening.   Q: How do you think you will remember Western? A: Making a bunch of connections with a lot of random people that are for some reason are here. I was actually talking to my suitemates yesterday about how it’s so weird that all these people come up to Western and you become friends with so many of them over the years.
