Posters calling Huxley College professor a "sexual predator" found on campus

CW: Sexual harassment.  Posters calling Paul Stangl, a Huxley College environmental studies professor, a "sexual predator" were hung up around campus on the morning of Friday, May 11. The posters were removed by University Police the same day, Paul Cocke, director of communications and marketing, said.

Assistant University Police Chief Keith Williams said around 20 flyers were hung up. Students found posters in Miller Hall and Red Square. Williams said University Police do not know who put the posters up. “The fliers are a violation of Western’s campus posting policy. In addition, the fliers appear malicious, with the intent to harass a university employee,” Cocke said.

The posters referenced previous Western Front articles, including a quote detailing the allegations made against Stangl.   Stangl was cleared of a sexual harassment allegation in 2016 after a student alleged Stangl sexually harassed her and a fellow teaching assistant during a summer travel course in 2016, according to a Western Front article

After a second EOO investigation in July 2017, Stangl was found to have sexually harassed the students and was barred from teaching field courses until summer session 2020, according to an email obtained by the Front through a public records request.

Senior Kristen Tarr is a Huxley College student who is aware of the allegations against Stangl. “I believe you should expose sexual predators because it’s what makes change and brings light to these issues,” she said.
