“Ben Carson would not abort baby Hitler”
In the fourth GOP debate, presidential candidates were asked the hard-hitting questions that help decide who is fit to be president. So naturally, the apex of these questions would be this: Would you go back in time to abort baby Hitler?
Let’s just pause here for a second—because the answers are weird, but the question is much weirder. What self-respecting journalist would bring this question to an interview, let alone ask it to presidential candidates? This all started when Jeb Bush was asked by Stephen Colbert if he would kill baby Adolf Hitler. To this he said “Hell yeah, I would! You gotta step up, man!” …which is a whole other bucket of wrong to sort out.
But let’s go back to the journalist who decided to revive this question and ask it Ben Carson, who said he preferred no one get aborted. First off, why is this news? It’s one thing for late night show host to ask a facetious question, but for mainstream media to pick it up and spend time analyzing the answer to this question is only aiding to make this primary more of a joke than it already is. What consequence does one’s answer to this have on running this nation? Even if someone had the perfect answer to this it would be obviously futile. At some point, politics is only as ridiculous as the media let them be—and this is a case disregarding that responsibility.
