Photo courtesy of "The Mary Anns" By Hailee Wickersham “Hello Love” by The Mary Anns The Mary Anns are composed of two guitarists, a violinist and a drummer that go by the names Serafima Healy, Skylar Kaster, Elijah Kirk and Skylar Tibbetts. Together the four create a dreamlike escape that carries you away into the clouds, adrift on their folky sound. Most recently, the Pacific Northwest based group announced on Instagram that they would be playing five local shows, all in the Bellingham and Mount Vernon area. Their mini-tour began on Friday, April 19, and continues through Saturday, April 27, May 5, May 19, and June 1. Check out their instagram for more details. “Feels Right” by Danny’s Dead Danny’s Dead is a trio of three students originating just 30 miles south in Mount Vernon. The band can’t be labeled with a single genre, but rather a symphony and blend of multiple genres, primarily electronic and indie but often seen drawing from rap and rhythm and blues influences. Their upbeat single “Feels Right” will be the soundtrack to your summer, find their music here. “Parti” by The Dawn Bombs The Dawn Bombs are a well-known jazzy alternative pop band based in Bellingham. Their music soaks up the angst of Vampire Weekend but is also heavily influenced by the instrumentals and qualities of artists like Hiatus Kaiyote and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Their most recent album “Hella Slouchy” has a “making pancakes on a sunday morning” kind of feel, check the band out here. “She Moves” by Local Ghost Local Ghost’s talented guitar solos and rock and roll type beat will haunt and replay in your mind for days to come. Their alternative sound is trademarked by four boys from Bellingham, Elijah Watson and Taylor Merlina on guitar and vocals, Tom Mckay playing the bass guitar, and Nick Robinson at the heart playing the drums. Let go of yourself and dissolve into the calming and ambient beats of Arbour. His instrumental work transcends what can be put into words, his music is rather an experience. The graduated Western student, Hans Wankins, delivers heavy lo-fi beats that leaves you unable to press pause, or rather, not wanting to.
