By: Kaeli Hearn Exploring Bellingham has become my favorite pastime. This week, my exploring lead me to a fairly new shop in Bellingham called Camber. Located on the corner of W. Holly St. this little spot is inviting, open and modern. The cafe has big windows that bring a lot of natural light into the facility. You can either sit down and order from the menu or go up to the counter for a classic coffee grab-and-go feel. Let’s talk about Camber’s menu. Although coffee and drinks seem to be the main attraction here, they also offer a variety of unique food items. They even offer gluten-free and vegan options. They have a whole table of pastries from cookies to muffins, oatmeal and breakfast items in the mornings and a lunch and dinner menu in the evenings. Here is the best part -- they serve beer, wine and cider. The overall prices are a little higher than most spots in Bellingham, roughly $4 -- $5 for a latte, but it is worth it. The interior is covered in beautiful artwork that adds to the overall aesthetic. The architecture has a very modern feel with lowlights and a light-wash wood that make up the countertops and ceilings. My favorite part about Camber was the atmosphere. Two women were chatting, a husband and wife were laughing, a pair of students were working, and others were reading, eating and sipping wine. Every employee I came in contact with gave great suggestions and were friendly. The atmosphere seems like the perfect mix of fine dining and a hip coffee bar. They also sell some of merchandise -- mugs, coffee, honey and t-shirts. I was able to meet one of the managers David who was warm and friendly upon coming in and welcomed every guest with kindness. David seemed to love his job and Camber as a whole. Overall, Camber may from now on be my go-to spot. The shop exuded a warm, welcoming atmosphere. If you have some free time in the next few weeks, be sure to check this spot out.
