By Samuel Biehn The Vikings were tested, but ultimately prevailed against Concordia in overtime 1-0 to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship game in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, Nov. 4. It’s redemption for a Western squad who had their 39-game winning streak broken by the Cavaliers in a 2-0 loss at home just one week prior. Concordia came into the match with a 14-game winning streak. It took until overtime for the Vikings, but the team got a shot in the net just in time to seal the victory. In the 103rd minute, Western forward Gabriela Pelogi’s massive goal gave the team the win. As the 2017 GNAC champions, the Vikings will now advance to the NCAA Division II Championships for the sixth consecutive year, with the full schedule set to be announced Monday, Nov. 6.
