Western men’s basketball extended their win streak to seven games with a 100-56 victory over Simon Fraser University.
The lopsided victory on Tuesday, Jan. 24, kept Western on top of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings.
Senior guard Taylor Stafford said he fed off the energy that comes with being so far ahead.
“No game is low-key. Moving forward, we can’t have a bad game and then expect to play well the next night.”

“When we win big other guys can come in and we can cheer for them,” Stafford said.” We show that we respect them just as much as they respect us because we’re starters.”
Stafford scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the first half to lead the Vikings to a 43-21 lead at the half.
Stafford said he makes sure to play every game with the same focus.
“It’s not the Central [Washington] or [Alaska] Anchorage games, but I just want to mentally be there.” Stafford said. “I wanted to mentally be strong and there for this game.”
Head coach Tony Dominguez said the team had to work on their own game and not worry about Simon Fraser who have lost 15 straight games. This game was about working on getting better on defense and moving the ball, he said.
