Heart racing, pounding so loudly in your chest you can hear it. Goosebumps rise and your hair stands on end. Eyes locked on the screen, peering through the cracks between your fingers as you try to cover your eyes, but can’t seem to truly look away. This is the feeling of watching a thrilling movie.

With the winter cold keeping students inside, a dominating form of entertainment is film. While you could invest your time in an educational documentary or a predictable rom-com, only an adrenaline pumping horror/thriller movie can replicate the same feelings missed from days of warm-weather adventuring. Whether those summer days were spent jumping off of the docks into cool water or riding the not-so-stable rollercoaster at the fair, they were filled with excitement.

While we can’t change the weather, we can recreate the thrill, thanks to the magic of cinema. Grab your snacks and your warmest blanket, and settle in with one of these movies students deemed their favorite.

Junior Remington McKenzie, a psychology major, decided on “The Conjuring.” Being one of the more current, widely known horror movies, this 2013 film is more realistic in terms of CGI technology. That being said, the story is still a tale as old as time: paranormal activity is a family’s farmhouse.
