What is your Major?
Stern is an English literature major with an emphasis in secondary education. Stern is a transfer student who originally went to the University of Washington.
“After a year at a big school I decided I wanted a smaller campus and to be more involved with my professors,” Stern said.
What is your favorite thing to do in Bellingham?
Stern also wanted to be in a place close to the outdoors, where she could hike and go to the beach.
Her favorite thing to do in Bellingham is to go to Locust Beach, where she likes the low tide and the sunset. If you happen to frequent Locust, you might find other Western students strung up among the trees in their hammocks.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Bellingham?
Goat Mountain Pizza Co. is her favorite place to eat in town. The constantly changing flavors are a main feature that attract her to the restaurant.
What are you plans next year?
Stern’s time in Bellingham is almost over. In September, she will be embarking on a new adventure teaching English with the Peace Corps in Morocco.
“I wanted to travel after I graduate and be able to experience a different culture. I think the Peace Corps is the best opportunity for that and I’ll be teaching so I’ll get hands on experience and on an international scale,” Stern said.
