Accountability: one of the most crucial aspects of progression.
Accountability can take many forms. It can be a coach, a mentor, a fitness watch, a club, a workout buddy and so much more. One of the most influential and beneficial forms of accountability (when related to fitness) is finding a workout buddy.
- Support – a buddy can be your cheerleader, can pick you up when your down, can help you attain your goals and be there by your side through it all. Often, they will share your same goals and if you can work together toward a similar goal it will not only be a bonding experience, but both buddies will benefit.
- Motivation – a buddy will help get you out of bed in the morning. If you know someone else is waiting for you to show up, that alone is motivation to get there.
- Healthy competition – a buddy can also provide a good dose of healthy competition. As someone works beside you, pushing themselves to their limit it will encourage you to do the same. The competitive side can be unleashed through a healthy outlet and ends up pushing both you and your buddy harder than if you were solo.
Find someone who shares similar goals, is in a similar fitness level and is willing to keep you accountable. The benefits are too good to pass up.
