Sisters, a duo based in Seattle, released a video for their latest single, “Queer Life” on Wednesday, Oct. 14. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmmhhBsb3Mg[/embed] Members Andrew Vait and Emily Westman said on their website that they wrote this song in the two days leading up to the Supreme Court of the United States’ decision to legalize gay marriage nation-wide in Obergefell v. Hodges. “This song is invitation to join us in a movement of love and respect,” the song’s description reads. The purpose of the song is also to raise awareness in people who still don’t accept others for who they are, according to their website. “Queer Life” is undeniably catchy. Sisters’s genre is best defined as indie pop, and this song fits that genre perfectly. The chorus, beat and overall form is repetitive, which I’m not usually a fan of, but with the song’s message it’s hard not to love it. Sisters’ debut EP, “Diamonds of Gold,” was released last September, when they first won my heart and immediately established themselves as one of my favorite new local bands. Their next performance is on Nov. 5 with Deep Sea Diver, another Seattle-based group, at Neumos in Seattle.
